About 630 CHED
630 CHED has been Edmonton’s news and talk station since 1954, making it one of the longer-running voices on the Alberta airwaves. Owned by Corus Entertainment and broadcasting at 630 AM, it covers news, sports, and hockey with the kind of local focus that comes from seven decades of serving the same city.
Sports coverage is a real part of the identity here, not a weekend afterthought. Edmonton is an NHL city, and CHED reflects that. If you’re looking for Oilers talk or game-related programming, this is the station Edmontonians tend to reach for.
The station streams free online through its Global News player at 128 kbps MP3, so you don’t need to be anywhere near Edmonton to tune in. Studios are on 84th Street and Roper Road in Edmonton, with transmitters southeast of the city.
